OPEN HOUSE DIARY 2016

18th January              Rosemary Piddock has been invited back to give us another of her very interesting talks on the author Agatha Christie, her work and life.

15th February            The very accomplished photographer and speaker, James Wilmot, will give a talk entitled “I took a stroll through Hythe”.  This utilizes photographs both old and new which illustrate the changes which have occurred.  Collection for Pilgrims Hospice.

21st March                 TBC – lunch at the Elham Valley Vineyard – possibilities yet to be investigated.

18th April                   John Barber – brother of our own Graham Barber – will give us a light-hearted talk on “Why we love dislike the French”.

16th May                    Brian Rumbelow of Shepway District Council will give a talk on “Recycling” – what Shepway does with the rubbish you put in the bin!  Should be quite an eye opener!

20th June                    Our very own – Robert Godfrey – will give a scintillating presentation on his understanding of the Nuclear Power industry and where it is going!.

18th July                     Bring and Share Lunch

22nd August            A popular return by Ann Finney, who this time will take us through the life and works of Noel Coward, who lived locally.  Collection for a charity of Ann’s choice.

12th September          Ian Porter is a man of many talents.  He does guided walks around London and is an author, to name but two.  He is also an accomplished speaker and his topic when he visits us with be: “Suffragettes”.  Should be very interesting.  A collection will be made.

17th October              Today we have something completely different – Eve Muggridge will show us how to make a stained glass item, along the way telling us about the different kinds of glass with much humour!

21st November          A Christmas Quiz – light hearted – everyone for themselves!!  Maybe there will be a prize or two?

12th December          Christmas Lunch – probably at the Golf Club again – but open to suggestions.

When we have a guest speaker, please be at the village hall by 10.30 am at the latest.

If YOU have any suggestions about what we could do at Open House, then please speak to Barbara or Wendy.  We could fit more events in – or save your suggestion until next year – it will not be wasted!!
